Given the fact that the global economy is changing so quickly, it means that the education system struggles to keep up with the available opportunities and trends of the global economy. The lack of engagement and academic performance among students is that they see no link between what they study at school and what they are passionate about in the real world. The Elixir Vocation Incubator engages youth in a vision that they find meaningful in the present and creates line of sight between that vision and their holistic and academic responsibilities. This ensures that learners are engaged in the primary objectives of school- to develop as a self aware and empowered individuals that have a passion for learning!

Empowering experience over the holidays or gap year!
The holidays represent a great opportunity for personal development yet it can be a challenge to find experiences that are both nurturing and fun. It is highly important to send youth on experiences that act as "rites of passage" and which provide some direction and clarity on life direction and universal principles. The Elixir Experience takes youth on vocational development journeys to some of the most remarkable natural wonders on the planet. Trained wilderness guides and vocation coaches engage youth in their life purpose such that when they return home and to school, their holiday has been a period of enrichment, vitality and personal growth.

Abuse of drugs and alcohol!
Drug and alcohol abuse remains a huge challenge facing the development of our youth. No matter how hard parents, the police or education institutions try, the supply of drugs will always be a reality and reducing demand is the only solution to the problem. Unfortunately scare tactics, the stigma’s that exist around abusers and the often counter-productive response from parents, only deepens the level of denial experienced by children. At Elixir we believe that offering youth an empowering vision and a positive alternative to drugs is the only way of facilitating change such that youth make empowered life choices.

I want my child to have a valuable gap year experience!
Supporting the decision or the finances for a gap year can be a challenging time for a parent or mentor. At Elixir we believe that gap years offer great rewards in terms of life experience, self discovery and broadening one’s horizons. In our research however, we found that many gap years did not facilitate any new awareness around one of the key motivations for this experience- career direction. It was based on this need that Elixir offers the coaching, career guidance and facilitation support required to develop self awareness and foster effective gap year choices.
